Ages 6-9

Drawing Animals *
with Fran Baldwin
Thursdays, 4 - 6 pm

Expand your love for animals onto the page! Students will develop their skills for drawing animals. The class will also create decorative paper frames for their pictures.

Ages 7-9

Artistic Styles and Imagination *

Learn to look at the world with an artist's eye as we investigate Modern artists and learn from their techniques. A variety of media will be used in this relaxed studio environment where each child's unique vision is valued and appreciated.

Cartooning

Learn how to design and draw any character you can possibly imagine, using black and colored markers. This class is appropriate for beginners and those who enjoy drawing already.

From Concept to Installation

Take over the Mystic Arts Center galleries! In preparation for the Young At Art exhibition, the instructor will guide students through the process of exhibiting artworks. The students will design, create, and install a collaborative piece of art to be displayed in the show while learning about the working world of artists. **Students will also meet Feb. 24 in the galleries for the hanging of the artwork and a pizza party. Meeting time may be later than class time, students and their families will be informed the first day of class.

Build It!

Using multicolored clay, wire and found and recycled materials, construct artworks in three dimensions. Participants are welcome to bring their own recycled materials from home (bottle caps, egg cartons, plastic packaging, and other creativity inspiring objects).

Critter Cabins & Fairy Houses!
with Jennifer Wheeler
Fashion miniature dwellings for the critters or fairies who will appreciate and use them in your home or yard. Participants must bring one cardboard oatmeal container per pair, and are asked to bring some or all of the following: acorn caps, milkweed fluff, feathers, empty walnut shells, reeds and grasses, pinecones, stones, rocks, twigs and mosses.
